Automotive Technician

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a vehicle evaluation, using check sheet, upon every vehicle assigned to work on
  • Perform work assignments in accordance with time schedules as assigned by the Service Advisor
  • Utilize shop time keeping system for all operations of repair, including diagnostics
  • Perform all maintenance and repair with speed and thoroughness
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of efficiency
  • Road test all repairs to ensure the vehicle was repaired correctly the first time
  • Park and lock all vehicles in an orderly fashion in designated areas
  • Document on the repair order estimate sheet, any additional repairs and/or any condition that may require special explanation to the customer
  • Increase customer satisfaction by completing repairs correctly the first time
  • Maintain a low rate of "comeback" repairs
  • Provide complete, accurate and neatly written descriptions of diagnosis, repair and maintenance performed on the repair order estimate sheet for each assignment
  • Achieve and maintain ASE certifications in nine areas of automotive repair
  • Purchase and maintain tools necessary to perform assigned tasks
  • Report tools, equipment and facilities in need of repair
  • Attend and complete company hazard communication standard and worker right-to-know training
  • Notify Parts Manager, Service Advisor or Manager if parts need to be ordered or delays are expected
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all other personnel
  • Maintain the company's standards for ethical business practices, professional image, orderliness, customer service and good employee and community relations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer three to five years of experience as a technician in the automotive industry
  • Capable of achieving and maintaining ASE certification in the nine areas pertaining to automotive repair
  • Possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts license
  • Able to speak, read and write fluent English
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to read schematics
  • Able to achieve and maintain a productivity rating of 90% and an efficiency rating of 125%
  • Able to operate all company equipment needed to perform required tasks
  • Able to lift 60 pounds
  • Able to work long hours

Service Advisor

Responsibilities:

  • Increase customer satisfaction by building customer relations
  • Increase profitably by maximizing sales
  • Perform walk-around on all customer vehicles noting damage, scratches, missing hubcaps, etc.
  • Assigns original technician performing repairs on all comeback jobs
  • Estimate costs and completion times
  • Handle all customer service issues including: communications with customer regarding status of vehicle, scheduling, review of all repairs with the customer on delivery of the vehicle and customer complaints
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain service files
  • Answer telephones and greet customers promptly and courteously
  • Maintain the company's standards for ethical business practices, professional image, orderliness, customer service, and good employee and community relations
  • Attend meetings as required by management

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Service Advisor in the automotive industry
  • Accredited training in Service Advisor skills, customer satisfaction, and quality control
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Computer skills and ability to adapt to the company computer systems
  • Able to keyboard 40wpm, operate photocopier, calculator and related business equipment
  • Accurate and detailed organization skills
  • Able to assume responsibility and work with minimal supervision
  • Able to speak, read and write fluent English
  • Basic understanding of the mechanical functions of an automobile
  • Possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license
